Career Overview/ Highlight : Dewald Brevis IPL 2022 to 2024
Dewald Brevis shot to the limelight during the 2022 Under-19 ODI World Cup, played in the West Indies. He topped the run charts with a tally of 506 runs. Naturally, he was on the radar as far as the IPL franchises were concerned and was picked by Mumbai Indians, who had paid him ₹3 crore despite his base prize being just 20 lakh.
Known as ‘Baby AB’ after South African legend AB de Villiers, Brevis often uses his feet against the spin and gets into the offensive very early in his game. He had once smashed 162 runs in 57 balls in a domestic T20 game. The youngster has also slammed 30 runs in an over in the 2022 CPL season.
He had performed satisfactorily well as a 19-year-old in his debut IPL season, where he accounted for 161 runs in seven games with an individual highest of 49. Nevertheless, he had to warm the bench for the entire 2023 season.
